According to Deadline, Lionsgate has acquired the North American theatrical distribution rights to Guy Ritchie‘s next action movie, which will be led by Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal.
“We are thrilled to once again be partnering with the entire Lionsgate team, whose passion and ambition for the film are very clear,” Ritchie said. “We are excited to extend and build on our relationship with Joe, Adam, Nathan, and Charlotte to bring the film to audiences across the US.”
“We are very lucky to be working again with Guy, whose filmmaking transcends the action genre with its signature wit and irreverence. Combined with the unparalleled talents of Jake, Henry, and Eiza, this fast-paced, original action film promises to thrill, surprise, and delight,” Lionsgate executive Charlotte Koh said.
Guy Ritchie’s Next Movie Will Soon Complete its Filming
The acquisition comes after the studio had also nabbed the U.S. rights to Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which is a World War II movie starring Cavill and Eiza Gonzales. The latter will also appear in the untitled project with Cavill and Gyllenhaal, as they prepare to wrap up production this week in Spain. They will also be joined by actors Carlos Bardem (Assassin’s Creed) and Fisher Stevens (Succession).
The untitled project will be written and directed by Ritchie. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. It is, however, described as a big-budget action spectacle laced with Ritchie’s trademark humor. The filmmaker serves as a producer along with Ivan Atkinson, and Black Bear International’s John Friedberg.
