After a record-breaking (for all the wrong reasons) Memorial Day weekend, market conditions are only going to get worse this weekend, with no films opening in over 2,000 theaters. The Garfield Movie looks like the likely winner this weekend, although Furiosa has a shot, and even IF could conceivably top the chart in its third weekend.
Due to some technical issues, we didn’t have full analysis for each of the new releases when we first posted this article. Here they are now:
Here’s what the model thinks that top 10 will look like.
Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle looks like it will be the top-grossing new release. The fact that managed a relatively modest $800,000 in previews on Thursday, and doesn’t feature in our top 10 trending movies speaks volumes for what this means for the market.
One film that is worth looking out for, and which we don’t have a prediction for, is In a Violent Nature. It is currently our most-anticipated new movie, and could well find a place in the top 10.
The bottom line, though, is that this is a weekend everyone will want to quickly forget.
