New Starboard Entertainment and Stonecutter Media Partnership Launches Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence on VOD October 6: “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence, the long-awaited fifth installment in one of cult cinema’s most enduring horror-comedy franchises will become available across major transactional VOD platforms on October 6, following a limited theatrical release that began last month and will continue to expand in September.

Since the original Attack of the Killer Tomatoes debuted in 1978, the independently created franchise has grown into a multigenerational pop-culture phenomenon. Its deliberately outrageous mixture of horror, comedy and social satire has spawned four previous feature films, a Saturday morning animated series, a Nintendo game and an enduring merchandising legacy, while also helping launch the career of Hollywood icon George Clooney.

More than four decades later, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence brings the franchise’s proudly unconventional sensibility into a new era, combining its signature absurdist humor with a timely satire of biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and humanity’s relentless drive to improve on nature.

In the film, a young biotech prodigy develops a revolutionary genetically engineered vegetable intended to solve humanity’s greatest problems. When the experiment spirals out of control, however, it unleashes a new generation of killer tomatoes and sets the stage for another wildly unpredictable chapter in the cult saga.

The film features an ensemble cast led by franchise icon John Astin (The Addams Family), reprising his role as Professor Gangreen, alongside comedy legend David Koechner (Anchorman), Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), horror favorite Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), Dan Bakkedahl (Veep), Myrna Velasco (Star Wars Resistance), Vernée Watson (Shrinking, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Paul Bates (Coming to America), Zachary Roozen (Romeo and Juliet Killers), Samantha Bailey (Just Add Magic) and Noor Razooky (The Old Man).

The VOD release marks the beginning of a strategic distribution partnership between Starboard Entertainment and Stonecutter Media, Ltd., bringing together Starboard founder Thomas Zambeck and veteran entertainment executive Steven Karel to expand the companies’ reach across the evolving home-entertainment marketplace. Additional titles distributed through the collaboration will be announced in the months ahead.

…Theater listings can be found on the film’s official site:

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence was directed by David Ferino and produced in association with Atomic Toybox Entertainment. The film continues the legacy with the involvement of original Attack of the Killer Tomatoes filmmakers, screenwriter Costa Dillon and producer Steve Peace.”

Tubi Announces “Bite Size Terror,” Spotlighting Fresh Faces in Horror: “Today, Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation’s (NASDAQ: FOXA, FOX) free streaming service, announced the new Original short-form horror anthology series, BITE SIZE TERROR, as a part of Tubi’s Terror on Tubi Hub. The ten-episode anthology series will introduce a new generation of filmmakers and is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Tubi this Fall in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

BITE SIZE TERROR is an anthology of short-form horror stories that explores every corner of the genre, from the supernatural and occult to body horror, dark comedy, monsters, and the macabre. From executive producer Peter Rice and GJMD Studio, the series brings a fresh take on the short-form horror format to Tubi previously explored in Hulu’s “Bite Size Halloween.” Across the season, grief, ambition, intimacy, and vulnerability become entry points for something darker, as characters searching for connection, control, or a way forward find themselves confronting forces they do not understand. With a new story and a new nightmare in every episode, BITE SIZE TERROR delivers a sharp, unpredictable collection of horror built to unsettle, surprise, and linger long after each story ends.

“Our horror shorts have become an extraordinary engine for discovering new writer-directors, 90 shorts, nine first features, and counting”, said Executive Producer Peter Rice. “We’re thrilled to partner with Tubi to introduce the next generation of horror filmmakers, with BITE SIZE TERROR on Tubi”.

“With a different nightmare in every episode, BITE SIZE TERROR is a thrilling showcase for the next generation of horror filmmakers,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer at Tubi. “It brings bold, unpredictable stories to the Terror on Tubi Hub, adding to an already compelling destination for fans with more than 53 million hours of horror to explore.
