Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 has arrived, bringing new threats for Dexter Morgan. However, early reviews suggest that the crime drama has not matched the critical acclaim of its first season.

As of now, Season 2 has an 86% score on the Tomatometer based on seven reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. This is nine points lower than Season 1, which received a 95% rating from 63 reviews. It’s important to note that the score may change as additional reviews are added to Rotten Tomatoes following the release.

The first season followed Dexter Morgan’s search for Harrison after he woke from a coma. The new season introduces two dangerous killers that put Dexter in a challenging situation. Brian Cox portrays the New York Ripper, while Dan Stevens joins the cast as the Five Borough Killer. In addition to these threats, Morgan confronts questions about aging, and Harrison continues his quest for justice.

What are critics saying about Dexter: Resurrection Season 2?

Reviews for the new season are mixed, with some critics praising its story while others left unimpressed. ScreenRant’s Sean Morrison said, “Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is devilishly delightful and could easily be the best season of Dexter that we’ve gotten in years.” Collider’s Tania Hussain wrote, “There are some growing pains, but the series finds its footing fast, and though Dexter might be getting older, there’s still plenty of life left in his Dark Passenger.”

The San Francisco Chronicle’s Bob Strauss commented, “The new season’s murders have a rote quality, stabs at humor more like self-parody, and the ongoing introductions of new and old characters don’t intrigue like they did before.” IGN’s Matt Fowler said, “If Dexter’s ‘I’m over 50 now’ inner turmoil and restlessness are treated differently than his past bouts of self-reflection and unease, Season 2 could be a very interesting take.”

Season 2’s first episode premieres on October 30, 2026, on Paramount+ Premium, with Michael C. Hall portraying Dexter Morgan. Uma Thurman returns as Charley, with Jack Alcott reprising his role as Harrison.
