It seems like only yesterday we were questioning whether we wanted, or needed, another sequel/reboot/requel to I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the day has finally come to partly answer that question.
A trailer has dropped for the film and honestly it’s hard to determine what’s good and what’s bad about it. We like that it’s kept that 2000s slasher feel, but it also seems to be just as vapid as the original. Jennifer Love Hewitt makes an appearance for an unintentional snicker and we even get a surprise cameo from Sarah Michelle Gellar, but don’t blink or you’ll miss it.
With modern horror movies like Terrifier and In a Violent Nature becoming the norm in the slasher space, can a franchise that wasn’t particularly gory in the first place up its game, but still be true to the source material?
Thanks to JoBlo for the following synopsis:
“When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer… and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.”
