The latest episode of Below Deck featured Fraser Olender as a single man. After mulling over his kiss with deck hand Damo Yorg, the chief stew figured it was time to pull the plug on his long-distance love.
Yachting is not for land-locked romances. And Fraser revealed that he had only seen his ex-boyfriend five days this year, at the time of filming. Their hectic schedules made actual dating impossible.
Below Deck’s Fraser reveals he and his boyfriend split after his kiss with Damo
Fraser explained the situation in a confessional interview. It was as dire as labeling his then-beau a “pen pal” with “incompatible” schedules. It culminated in him walking off the boat to have the talk.
“Just so you know, my boyfriend and I broke up,” he told stew Barbara Kulaif when he returned. “Because we don’t see each other. I’m perfectly fine.”
In confessional, Fraser reflected on how he ended up in the impractical situation. He shared, “Long distance is super hard. It’s never something I wanted to be in. And lo and behold it’s not working. It needed to be done.”
The Bravolebrity added, “If I’m dating someone, it’s because I want to date them, and see them. So it’s not the right time for us.”
Fraser wasn’t happy in the “situationship”
And in further retrospect, the Below Deck favorite told The Daily Dish that he was “unhappy” in the “situationship.” However, Fraser called it a “right guy, wrong time” romance.
“Do I really have a boyfriend? Yes. But seeing him five times a year? I don’t know if that classifies as something that’s going particularly well. I quickly realized that I’m very unhappy in our situationship,” Fraser said.
The reality TV star does not regret kissing Damo, a truly “fun” event. Fraser said, “Everything’s all super fun, and free, and jovial, and joking. None of it’s serious. We definitely let loose and have a good time, and we’re all adults and we can all do that in jest, and it’s not taken personally by anyone.”
Can Below Deck fans expect more hookups between the crew members? Well count Fraser out. He admitted to Bravo, “I don’t have any serious crushes or aspirations with anyone this year.”
