    Broadway’s 2025-2026 Season Grosses Nearly Billion

    Broadway shows grossed nearly $2 billion for the 2025-26 season, according to figures just released by The Broadway League.

    Specifically, the season grosses total was $1.91 billion, with total attendance reaching 14.6 million.

    Compared to last season, the 2025-26 run was up 1% in gross to $1,910,903,835 and down 0.6% in attendance with 14,577,322. The 2024-25 frame was a 53-week season, compared to this year’s standard 52 weeks — every seventh year a 53rd week is added to catch up to the calendar year.

    The season that just ended on May 24 included 74 productions, 35 of which opened during the season. That adds up to 13,416 performances, with audiences filling 90.8% of available seats.

    Other stats:

    • During the 2025-2026 Broadway season, 35 productions opened and 39 productions continued from prior seasons;
    • The 35 productions that opened during the season included 12 musicals (six original, four revivals and two return engagements), 21 plays (14 original, seven revivals) and two special engagements.

    Jason Laks, President of The Broadway League, said in a statement that the numbers suggest “audiences continue to have a deep passion for live theatre. Even in a challenging economic environment, Broadway remained notably on par with last season, reflecting both the resilience of this industry and the connection audiences feel to these productions.”

    He continued: “Broadway is more than just entertainment. Every production supports not only the artists and crews on stage and backstage, but also the restaurants, hotels, retail shops, transportation workers, and small businesses that rely on the energy Broadway brings to New York City. Broadway remains one of New York’s great economic engines, supporting nearly 100,000 jobs throughout the region.”

    Among the notable grosses in the final week of the season, Every Brilliant Thing reported a gross of $2,296,473 as star Daniel Radcliffe played his final performances. That figure marks the highest gross ever for a play at the Hudson Theatre. (Mariska Hargitay is making her Broadway debut in the role this week.)
