“City-boy Ren McCormick (Bacon) is new to an uptight small town where dancing has been banned,” reads the synopsis. “Ren quickly makes a new best friend in Willard and falls fast for the minister’s daughter, but his love for music and dancing gets him into hot water equally as fast. ”
Footloose was directed by Herbert Ross from a screenplay written by Dean Pitchford. Besides Bacon, the film also starred Lori Singer, Dianne Wiest, John Lithgow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Penn, and more. In 2011, the studio produced a modern Footloose remake, which was led by Kenny Wormald as Ren, Julianne Hough as Ariel, and Miles Teller as Willard.
