Steve Niles Brings SCAB Back From the Dead: “Steve Niles and artist Jim Whiting are bringing their dark tale of SCAB to Kickstarter in a remastered graphic novel. Out of print since 1992, the 48-page series SCAB is being reissued with supplementary material, an introduction by Steve Niles, and a new cover created especially for the book.
Steve Niles’s SCAB tells the story of a lone survivor of the zombie apocalypse, a boy known only as SCAB.
A boy, his zombie, and the end of the human race.
It has been years since the outbreak of the zombie plague. SCAB roams atop the ruins of the Washington district, believing he and the undead Quigley to be the last of their kind. When a group of scavengers arrives, SCAB’s world is torn apart.
“Steve and I have been talking about revisiting SCAB, a story that we have discussed for years. Even today, people ask us about it. I have all of the original art, and with the advancements in digital printing, it presents an excellent opportunity for us to revive SCAB and publish it together through Kickstarter.” explains Whiting.
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Niles and Whiting created a series of comics published by Eclipse, Arcane, Greed, and FantaCo.
The SCAB Kickstarter is live and runs until May 30th.”
