Olivia Colman recently got her dress wet while attending the premiere of her latest film, The Roses. The newly released satirical black comedy film was helmed by Jay Roach from a script written by Tony McNamara.
The movie is a remake of the 1989 film The War of the Roses. The latter, in turn, is based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel of the same name. The story follows a couple whose perfect marriage starts crumbling after they end up facing major changes in their respective careers.

Olivia Colman graced the premiere of The Roses, where she posed for snaps with her husband Ed Sinclair and co-star Benedict Cumberbatch. At the event, she wore a long, light green silk kaftan gown. This gown is part of Elie Saab’s Fall 2023 Prêt-à-Porter collection and reportedly costs £4,143 (via Daily Mail). She accessorized with silver drop earrings that had green diamond detailing.
At some point during the event, Olivia Colman got the lower portion of her dress wet after it got dragged through the wet floor. Nonetheless, The Father actress gracefully handled the mishap and continued to enjoy the premiere.
As of writing, The Roses has a 63% fresh score and 77% audience score on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
The Roses has received mixed reviews upon release. The Free Press Journal has called the “central sparring match” between Colman and Cumberbatch’s characters “deliciously savage.” They added that the couple delivered “every line sharply.” However, they also noted that the film, on occasion, “bites off more than it can chew,” thanks to its “overstuffed gallery of friends, lawyers, and dinner-party guests.”
Besides Cumberbatch and Colman, the film also stars Andy Samberg, Kate McKinnon, Allison Janney, Ncuti Gatwa, and Jamie Demetriou, among others.
The Roses is currently playing in theaters across the United States.
