Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 5, Episode 15 Recap

Welcome to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 5, Episode 15 recap. Last week, Bronwyn accused Britani of seeking attention from the group. Bronwyn opened up about the issues in her marriage, and Mary sent Robert Jr. off to rehab before joining the women in Puerto Vallarta. While at dinner, another fight exploded that ultimately sent Lisa running to her room to pack, ’cause she’s “going home.” Keep reading to see exactly what went down on RHOSLC Season 5, Episode 15: “Smile, You’re Being Recorded.”

What happened on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 5, Episode 15?

In this week’s episode, the Mexico trip continues. But when Britani gets caught recording a fight in the Sprinter van, Meredith becomes more suspicious of her. After everyone attacks Britani for recording them, she admits her deepest secret, which doesn’t seem all that deep. Meredith is convinced that Brit planted a recording device in her room and enlists Heather’s help to find it. Here are some of the highlights from RHOSLC Season 5, Episode 15.

    Meredith questions Britani’s “odd” behavior

The next morning, Britani is fighting with the coffeemaker, while Bronwyn and Angie admit they slept well. Meanwhile, Lisa—who didn’t go home after all—is having breakfast alone. She says she didn’t sleep well because she was thinking about the fight last night. She’s still upset and hurt.

In addition, Bronwyn came to Lisa’s room and told her that she, Angie, Whitney, and Heather had had a further conversation about her. Bronwyn told her, “There was a conversation that I was part of where not nice things were said. I regret it, and I’m unhappy about it.” You’ve got to give it to Bronwyn: she’s not afraid to stir the pot.

Meredith comes to Heather’s room. “Last night was a little odd,” she says. “What is going on with Britani?”

Meredith thinks Britani’s behavior was “just weird.” She kept asking everyone, “How are you feeling?” Like she was trying to get people to talk.

She also thinks Britani is trying to suggest that she has “some kind of eating disorder.” The night before, she said she’d heard Meredith “crying and throwing up,” which wasn’t true.

“I don’t know what her intentions are,” Heather says, to which Meredith responds, “Well, I’m gonna find out.”

On the bus ride to their day’s activities, Bronwyn revisits the conversation from last night. Lisa demanded to know what was said about her, while Angie’s upset that Bronwyn revealed their private conversation. And of course, another screaming match erupts. Can’t these “ladies” just get along?

Meanwhile, Angie notices Britani recording their fight. “Turn your phone off right now!” Angie orders.

Even though Britani denies that’s what she was doing, production clearly caught her red-handed recording the conversation. She claims she was sending a video to her daughter, but her screen said “recording.”

While Britani tries to claim it was an accident, everyone’s wondering if she’s recorded them before. “It’s literally the worst invasion of privacy I can imagine,” Heather says. “We are deeply traumatized by friendship betrayals, and something like this just brings it all up to the surface … Britani f*cked up.”

When the bus finally stops, Britani jumps off and runs sobbing to a bench. Angie feels sorry for her. “It was a lot,” she says.

“Who cares?” Mary asks. “You guys can feel sorry all you want. She deserved that.” You don’t record your friends without their knowledge.

Finally, Whitney feels sorry for her and goes to talk to Britani. “What was your intention of filming the back of a seat?” she asks.

She claims she was trying to make a video for her daughter and accidentally started recording while she was trying to turn the camera around for a selfie. She says it was “only for a second,” but the film shows it was two minutes.

Whitney’s not buying it. “I’m not stupid,” she says.

Driving ATVs across a suspension bridge in the sky on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City

There are only two people allowed per ATV, so Heather gets stuck with “the most hated person on the trip.” She makes Britani drive, so she can’t record anything.

When the group arrives at the famous Jorullo Suspension Bridge which spans a deep canyon, most of them are hesitant. Lisa is horrified. “Nobody told me we were going on a bridge in the sky … It literally looks like a Lego bridge that Henry put together when he was four.”

I’ve seen this bridge on TV multiple times (we’re big fans of the Mexico Life TV show). It does look terrifying, but you’re in Mexico. You’ve just gotta go with the flow.

But they swallow their fear and go for it. At the end of the bridge, a resort worker tells them to go down the steps “for a surprise.” It’s a beautiful swimming hole with a waterfall. Did anyone wear their swimsuits?

Only Britani and Whitney are brave enough to jump off the cliff into the water. “Good luck with your diarrhea and throwing up later tonight!” Mary yells. Oh, Mary. That’s such a stereotype. You’re not supposed to drink the water in Mexico, but you can swim in it. It’s no more dangerous than anywhere else. But it’s not the first time Mary’s made culturally insensitive remarks.

Britani shares the big secret that will “change her life”

The next stop is lunch, where they’re greeted with margaritas. How long before a fight breaks out again? Three, two, one …

Of course, Mary has to stir the pot by asking, “Britani, why are you so quiet down there?”

“Oh, I’m just internalizing … everything,” Britani responds.

“What part?” Mary presses. “The part where you got caught?”

When Britani again says she was “recording the scenery,” Lisa shouts, “The story has changed like four times now.”

“Let’s be clear,” Meredith concludes. “You are a liar, and I’m not okay with it.”

“One thing I have not been truthful about,” Britani admits tearfully, “is that Jared and I do have a physical relationship.” Britani and Jared Osmond recently went Instagram official.

“We all knew that,” Mary comments. “You didn’t need to come out with that.”

Heather, Bronwyn, and Whitney understand, though. They were raised Mormon, and the LDS church frowns on sex before marriage.

“Me saying that out loud is going to change my life,” Britani adds.

Bronwyn gets it. She had a child out of wedlock. “You’ve gotta stop internalizing that shame,” Bronwyn tells her. “But you’ve also really gotta stop saying, ‘I’m gonna shame other people to keep a secret for myself.’”

Heather adds, “My world is Mormon, and in my world, I have no value, I’m a failure … a joke. And these women have told me that that’s not true. But you have to be honest. And you can’t record us!”

Finally, Britani seems to get it. “For that I really am sorry,” she says. “Sorry, Meredith, if you feel I betrayed your trust.”

With that issue (sort of) resolved, Heather suggests they take a breather and go shopping. That was kind of amazing. They actually shared a meal and had a conversation without screaming at each other.

Heather and Meredith search for a hidden recording device

Angie checks on Mary and helps her with her hair. She’s a hairdresser, after all.

She’s the only one Mary confided in about her son being in rehab. “This is really hard on Mary right now,” Angie interviews. “She’s going through a lot. Knowing that she’s holding something inside that the rest of the group doesn’t know about, I really want to be here to support her.”

Meredith knocks on Heather’s door. “Let me ask you a question,” she starts. “Have you heard me in my room?”

Heather responds, “No, it’s like a sanctuary.”

Meredith’s been thinking about it. She realizes that the other night she had a coughing fit, which could have been misinterpreted as throwing up.

“But here’s the thing,” Meredith adds. “If she heard my coughing, she would have heard my whole conversation with my husband. I’m feeling unsettled.”

The fact that Britani was recording the group on the bus today has made Meredith suspicious. “Did she leave something in my room?” she asks.

Heather says, “Let’s check it out.” And they’re off to search Meredith’s room.

“I can’t believe my luck,” Heather says in a confessional. “This is my calling. If God were to part the Heavens and let me know that he still loves me, this is the sign.”

After searching everywhere, Heather concludes, “Clearly she’s very good at what she does. Cause there’s zero recording devices in here.”

Heather advises Meredith to “say nothing” in this room until they figure out what’s going on.

At dinner, Angie resurrects the conversation from the sprinter van. They had been talking about Bronwyn telling Lisa about their private conversation before things went left with Britani.

“You put me and Whitney in a bad position, and Heather also,” Angie says.

“I didn’t run to her with any issue of yours,” Bronwyn says. “I said I was not nice. Whether I meant it to be a nefarious conversation or not …”

Angie and Whitney simultaneously ask, “What does nefarious mean?” Read a book, ladies. It’s good for your vocabulary. Heather, who not only reads books but has actually written a couple, explains that “nefarious” means evil and conniving.

Whitney thinks Bronwyn “ran to Lisa” to clear her guilt. Heather whispers across the table, “Two-faced,” and Whitney nods in agreement.

But Bronwyn insists that it was about her clearing her stuff with Lisa and not about tattling on the group. She doesn’t think she did anything wrong.

Switching to Britani, Meredith says, “I still have a question that doesn’t add up to me.”

Meanwhile, I’m so distracted by what the tropical humidity is doing to these poor women’s hair, that I can barely follow the conversation.

Meredith says she hasn’t heard anything from the rooms next to her. She was on the phone crying with her husband and had a coughing fit. “But I find it perplexing that I haven’t heard one thing from [anyone else’s] room,” Meredith says.

“Today you chose to record us without our knowledge,” she adds, wondering if Britani put “something in my room” to record her conversations.

Britani says that’s “ridiculous,” but Meredith notices she doesn’t deny it.

Mary, bless her heart, thinks it’s stupid to think Britani would record Meredith. “Meredith’s boring,” she says.

Heather’s audio test is a success due to Meredith’s meltdown

When they return to the hotel, Heather wants to continue the search. “We have a conspiracy to uncover,” she says in a confessional. “We have a bug to search for, and we have audio tests to conduct. We’ve got to crack this case wide open!”

Meredith’s fixated on the fact that her friends were discussing her marriage. There will be no audio tests tonight. She’s going to bed.

Lisa follows her into her room, where Meredith goes off about not letting them “defame” her anymore. “You shouldn’t open up to anyone in this f*cking group” she says. “I was honest, and it was weaponized against me.”

The rest of the group is outside in the hallway listening to every word. “Well, no wonder Britani heard her,” Mary says.

Speaking of questions, I have a question: whatever happened to Meili? Next week is the Season Finale. And guess what? More fighting! Yay.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
