Ryan Gosling Loses It Over Barbie Joke During SNL Skit

Ryan Gosling couldn’t control his laugh over a Barbie joke during his SNL skit. The 45-year-old actor hosted NBC’s popular comedy show for the fourth time. Gosling is promoting his upcoming sci-fi film, Project Hail Mary, which will be released on March 20.

Ryan Gosling struggles to stay in character during SNL skit

Ryan Gosling breaks character over a Barbie joke during his SNL skit. Gosling played Ken, Margot Robbie’s love interest in the 2023 fantasy-comedy movie of the same name. The 45-year-old actor is famous for not being able to control his laugh during critical situations. SNL took advantage of this quality and decided to put him in a skit where he wouldn’t be able to resist laughing.

Gosling starred alongside SNL’s Ashley Padilla in a skit titled “Passing Notes – SNL.” In the skit, the La La Land star plays Principal Wit, who is visiting Ms. Perry (Padilla’s) homeroom to scold the students for circulating mean messages.

However, while Gosling was lecturing the class, students were passing notes to each other until Ms. Perry stopped one of them. A warning appeared on screen: “The contents of these notes have been changed since rehearsal.” Ms. Perry declared that she and Mr. Wit would read the notes aloud. Despite the warnings, the note-passing continued. Gosling read a note and chuckled a bit but controlled himself from breaking character.

The 45-year-old confiscated a note from a student and read, “This happened a few years ago. I went to see Barbie with my sister and Principal Wit was there.” He continued reading, “He bought an entire row for himself. Every time the Ken character came on screen, he’d say, ‘Finally, something to look at. If I was still gay, I’d do him.’”

This time, Gosling couldn’t hold it together and broke into peals of laughter. The actor replied in between laughs, “I refuse to apologize for being right.” Fans raved over the SNL skit on X. One fan commented, “SNL writers pulling a fast one on Ryan Gosling and Ashley Padilla! That’s genius comedy gold. Did they nail the improv or was it a bit crumbly?” A second fan wrote, “And I couldn’t understand why in this skit they broke character so much. Makes sense now,” accompanied by multiple laughing emojis.
