Season 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills shocked viewers with Kyle Richards’ separation from Mauricio Umansky. The long-time couple was often seen as couple goals on the series. Then, Season 14 of RHOBH brought us news that Dorit Kemsley and PK Kemsley had also separated.
I mean, when co-star Erika Jayne selected Dorit and PK at BravoCon as the couple most likely to split up next, who knew that she was psychic? Not Erika! However, while I initially assumed that the separation was initiated by Dorit, I was wrong. It was PK who wanted space. And, during the early episodes of Season 14 of RHOBH, PK wasn’t acting like a man in a hurry to reconcile. He seemed to be the exact opposite.
Of course, I don’t think that this was what Dorit expected. Let’s take a look at the signs that RHOBH’s PK Kemsley may want a divorce from Dorit Kemsley.
PK Kemsley’s Insensitivity about Dorit Kemsley’s PTSD
During Season 13, Dorit continued to wrestle with her PTSD symptoms. Her anxiety stemmed from a terrifying armed home invasion that occurred in 2021 while PK was out of town. Poor Dorit was home with their two children, Phoenix and Jagger. Luckily, the children were not aware of what happened.
However, Dorit was deeply affected, and understandably so. But her husband’s empathy for her emotions wore thin rather quickly. Last season, the couple met with a therapist, and PK’s remarks about his wife’s emotional state were not kind. During the session, Dorit told PK, “I feel like you don’t quite understand the severity of the PTSD for me and largely in part the surprise element.”
He responded by calling some “elements” of Dorit’s PTSD “obnoxious.” PK added, “There are elements that I understand. There are also elements that I don’t consider are PTSD. The reality is, when does high maintenance blend with PTSD?” WOW. Now that is obnoxious.
In addition, Dorit wanted PK to be at home more, but he continued to travel for work. That caused her to feel like he wasn’t there for her emotionally. All she wanted was for him to show that her needs mattered to him. Yet, he was unable, or unwilling, to show up for Dorit. As you may recall, Dorit stuck by PK during their financial woes and his DUI arrest. Red flag warning!
PK Kemsley’s sobriety brought up other problems in his marriage to Dorit Kemsley
Dorit requested that PK stop drinking for one week. He did and decided not to start again. However, his newfound sobriety put the spotlight on other issues in their marriage.
During a recent episode of RHOBH, PK told his wife what their problems were. “I’m very clear now why we’ve made our decision. Why we’ve done what we’ve done. I really am clear on it,” PK stated. “Let me explain it to you this way. You’re my best friend and you’re my wife and we don’t speak to each other nicely.”
Dorit agreed, explaining in her confessional, “The progression of my and PK’s fighting and this is where it really became too toxic, was that we went from just screaming at one another but not using profanity to cursing at one another to actually having digs that were below the belt.”
Still, PK also let his wife know that he felt that they “stopped liking each other.” Of course, Dorit was caught off-guard by this statement. Then he added that while he stopped drinking and changed for Dorit, she had not changed at all. Oof. And if your estranged husband shows off his new clothes and calls himself “single PK,” that may be a clue that he isn’t looking to reconcile.
PK accused Dorit of making him feel “less than”
During that same uncomfortable dinner, PK again shared his feelings that Dorit had emasculated him. However, he also shifted the blame to Dorit, claiming that in his eyes, a husband should come before the children. And since becoming a mother, Dorit had changed and was no longer devoted to him.
“It was me that was the global entrepreneur. It was me that had built the businesses. It was me that brought you with me,” PK stated. “And you made me feel less than.” Dorit told her estranged husband that she never felt that way about him.
However, PK’s next words shocked Dorit. After she noted that they were “talking like five times a day,” PK responded, “I know, but we’re not going to.”
She replied, “I don’t understand.” Apparently, PK felt that they had some co-dependency issues. “That co-dependency is what we have to break,” he remarked. So, PK thought that they needed more space.
How can you complain that Dorit isn’t with you all the time, yet want more space? While Dorit thought that they were both going to discuss how to navigate their separation, it seems like “single PK” has already made some decisions.
Dorit was stunned when PK moved into an apartment
Dorit previously explained that right now, she and PK were not headed towards a reconciliation. “We are not talking about reconciliation. We’re not in that part,” she stated. Dorit added, “The kids come first and co-parenting is of the utmost importance to both of us.” Still, the Kemsleys are also not discussing divorce, so that is a positive sign.
However, PK managed to shock his better half with his next move. During a recent episode of RHOBH, Dorit spilled some tea to her new friend, Bozoma Saint John. It is amazing that Dorit is being honest and open about what is happening with her marriage. That is a breath of fresh air in this franchise.
She shared that PK had an apartment, and she learned about it via text message. According to Dorit, she thought that they were making decisions like this together. Yikes!
Recently, Dorit explained exactly what happened during an episode of RHOBH: After Show. “We had spoken about the apartment. In fact, when I wanted to talk about it, that was kind of what broke communication. I didn’t expect or know that he went immediately after to sign the lease,” Dorit explained. “It felt like I was blindsided a lot.”
Dorit told Boz that PK can be “almost childlike, like really he’s emotionally immature.” Boz responded that it was PK’s “strategy” to keep blindsiding Dorit. I would love to have Boz meet PK. She seems like a woman who doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Unfortunately for Dorit, from all of these signs, it looks like PK may be moving towards a divorce.
