With a new Alien movie on the horizon, I’m especially hungry for some nasty intergalactic mayhem. So, I was thrilled to see an underrated and generally forgotten 2017 thriller finding new life on the Prime Video movie charts. Life stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, and Rebecca Ferguson as scientists
Life is a terrifying sci-fi thriller about a team of scientists aboard the International Space Station whose mission of discovery turns to one of primal fear when they find a rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars and now threatens the crew and all life on Earth.
Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Olga Dihovichnaya Ariyon Bakare Hiroyuki Sanada, and Ryan Reynolds travel toward terror in the sci-fi sleeper. Check out the trailer for it below and keep scrolling to see what critics have to say about this underseen chiller currently dominating the Prime Video charts.
Check out the trailer here:
Life was directed by Jorge Daniel Espinosa, who might be better known for crafting the massively underrated Denzel Washington thriller Safe House in 2012. That film also stars Ryan Reynolds, and showcases Espinosa’s keen eye for building tension. He would also go on to direct Morbius but we we will leave that without comment.
Take a peek at what some of our favorite critics had to say about this extraterrestrial chiller:
David Sims commented The Atlantic: “If you’re looking for a competent Alien knock-off or just a way to kill a couple hours, you could do far worse.” And yeah, this basically sums up what you can expect. Brian Lowry of CNN fame wrote that Life is “a taut, suspenseful thriller that’s more enjoyable the less you think about it.”
