Like something out of a reality show, the owner of the iconic A Nightmare on Elm Street House, located in Hollywood, lashed out at a neighbor after she allegedly made comments about the property while the owner was in earshot. The exchange escalated quickly and ended with the owner walking away shouting expletives and classist insults.
Witnesses Describe What Happened
These days everything you do is probably being recorded. That was the case for this story as costumed fans were visiting the house just before the verbal assault. Localspookydude on Instagram posted their version of what went down.
“So here’s what happen.. she was walking her dog and seen Freddy taking a photo in front of the house & said ‘Freddy you finally returned home!’ Followed by ‘i wish they had more spooky decor to pay tribute to the classic film’— the owner heard her say that and replied with what you seen in the video.”
The new owner yells expletives at the passerby apparently offended by her comment about it lacking appropriate Krueger themeing. Keep in mind, the new owner has returned the iconic front door to red as it is in the movie. The previous owners had changed it to black.
Since the iconic cinematic landmark is such a bucket list location, there were people out front of the property taking pictures. The homeowner seems to be having a pleasant time talking to them. He is smiling and engaging. In what seems like a split second he turns from hospitable to hostile in the wake of the dog walker’s flippant criticism.
The homeowner, increasingly agitated, says, “If that’s what you want, just buy the house. But since you can’t afford it maybe you should just …”
Unphased by the man’s insult, the dog walker doubles down and suggests they have a block party. She also acts surprised when she learns she is talking to the actual owner. Even though she apologizes, her comment doesn’t sit well with him. ‘You are so f***ing rude!” he says. “Get out!’ he yells, adding, “Humans live here! How Dare YOU!”

Sassysledgehammer is the handle of one Instagram A Nightmare on Elm Street fan. After seeing the video she offers her own opinion on what she thinks happened, starting with the flattened cardboard box the owner is carrying. Maybe he wasn’t being so accommodating after all. It’s speculated that he might have been trying to obscure the fan’s view of the house by holding it in front of their cameras. Still, that is just conjecture.
What Do You Think?
Given the circumstances, what would you do? If you overheard someone criticize your house, would you have handled the situation the same way this homeowner did, or would you just let it go and chalk it up to a ruling from the court of public opinion? Also, do you think the homeowner should decorate his property to honor its significance in cinematic history?
