‘Toy Story 5’ Charts Best Monday YTD .3M

Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 5 had a great Monday with $17.3M at the domestic box office. So great that it’s the best Monday we’ve seen so far at the 2026 box office, ahead of Super Mario Galaxy Movie‘s first Monday, April 6, which did $16.8M.

Toy Story 5 was also ahead of Disney/Lucasfilm’s Memorial Day Monday for Star Wars: Mandalorian and Grogu which did $16.4M. The running four-day cume on the Andrew Stanton directed animated fifthquel is $177M in U.S./Canada.

Disney Entertainment Studios Chairman Alan Bergman said, “Toy Story has been breaking ground since it first hit the screen more than 30 years ago, and it’s wonderful to see Toy Story 5 continuing that tradition and connecting with audiences around the world to deliver the biggest opening for the franchise and the biggest of this year as well. Thanks to all the fans, and congratulations to our filmmakers, Andrew Stanton, Kenna Harris, and Lindsey Collins, and the Pixar team led by Pete Docter and Jim Morris, as well as our fantastic marketing and distribution teams who have helped us reach this milestone debut.”

Toy Story 5‘s Monday also ranked as the fifth best for any June theatrical release following Universal’s Jurassic World ($25.3M, June 15, 2015), Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2 ($23.6M, June 18, 2018), Inside Out 2 ($22.4M, June 17, 2024) and Finding Dory ($19.5M, June 20, 2016). Toy Story 5, as you can see, was a the fourth best Monday in June for an animated feature.

Among the top grossing weekdays (Monday-Thursday) year-to-date, Toy Story 5 is third behind the first Wednesday of Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($34.5M, April 1) and that sequel’s second day ($24.6M, April 2).

This weekend, there’s no question about it: Toy Story 5 will be No. 1 in its second frame, towering above Warner Bros/DC Studio’s Supergirl which will open to give or take $50M. Like all Pixar movies, it’s just a matter of how high. Right now, the estimate is a -40% to -45% ease with a Friday-Sunday between $88MM-$96M. Note, Inside Out 2 owns the best second weekend for an animated movie with $101.2M, -34% from its opening.

Focus Features and Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s Obsession refuses to be quiet, muscling to No. 2 on Monday with an estimated $2.3M and a $217.4M running cume in its sixth week. Triple note, the Curry Barker directed movie isn’t on PVOD yet. There’s a perception that the movie is available to purchase and rent on digital. Not yet.
