The separation between Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor left everyone a little puzzled. They announced the news in the days leading up to the series premiere of The Valley, which felt like a weak attempt at stirring up ratings. The fact that the two of them continue to host their podcast When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, made the whole thing seem even more suspicious. You can host a podcast together but can’t sort out your marital issues?
As time passes, both Jax and Brittany have made it very clear that this breakup isn’t a publicity stunt. They were truly having issues, and in an interview with People, Brittany opened up about why they’re still doing the podcast. To be honest, her reasoning is pretty relatable.
Brittany and Jax have bills to pay
In short, Brittany said that she and Jax are still doing the podcast because, in this economy, a job is a job. Before The Valley, they had both been off of TV for years. They have a son, and just like everyone else in the world, they have to make ends meet somehow.
“It’s a job for us,” Brittany admitted. “We’ve got to make money for our future, for our son, for his future. That’s what really matters.”
Ultimately, Brittany said that podcasting with Jax isn’t a huge deal because they’re going to be co-parenting regardless. They’ll always be in each other’s lives one way or another. Having a working relationship makes the whole process a little easier. Plus, they’re not in couples therapy, so podcasting is probably the next best thing.
She explained, “We’re going to be in each other’s lives no matter what, whether we get back together or we don’t, so I’d rather us be able to be around each other than absolutely hate each other. Let’s just pray it doesn’t get that far.”
New episodes of Jax and Brittany’s podcast drop on Thursdays. You can also catch them on The Valley, which airs Tuesday nights on Bravo at 9/8c.
