With the series season finale of Vanderpump Rules behind us, viewers have turned their sights to the reunion. The finale showed us a hot mic moment for the ages as production realized they bet on the wrong horse when hoping the Tom Sandoval redemption arc would work. Ariana Madix made her final stance at the Battle of the Whiskey Opening, noting that it wasn’t in her contract that she had to interact with her ex-boyfriend.
But as the dust settles, fans are brushing themselves off and trying to batten down the hatches emotionally as the reunion approaches. Without a doubt, it is going to be a night filled with tears, yelling, and gaslighting. I just hope all this emotional unrest is worth it.
Andy makes bombshell announcement
It turns out Andy Cohen has a few tricks up his sleeves. He revealed that the last ten minutes of the finale were purposefully kept from the cast. This revelation rattles everyone, including Lisa Vanderpump, Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney, Scheana Shay, Ariana, Lala Kent, James Kennedy, and Brock Davies. If the OGs are shaking in their boots, there isn’t any hope for the average viewer.
The reunion trailer is everything. Ariana wants Tom off the show, but Tom still feels like a victim. Fans have been through so much. Can we handle another crazy reunion?
Tom’s last stand
Once again, Tom will double down and get defensive when asked about his affair. I don’t know about you, but I am tired of the storyline. Yes, he decided to cheat for months. But at the end of the day, he didn’t murder anyone. In any normal circumstance, Ariana would walk away forever. I don’t think I am emotionally prepared to watch a grown man cry again.
The reunion will show multiple cast members calling Tom out for his poor interactions with the media. Throughout the entire season, Tom blasted his co-stars by trying to use Ariana’s mental health against her. For the last few months, viewers have watched as Bravo and Sandy tried to lean into the anti-hero vibe. But the mood never stuck. Tom’s lousy acting has been called out more times than I can count. If there was a Razzie to win, it would be Sandy’s time.
But the TomTom co-owner tried his best to land one last con as he told Ariana, “You know me well enough to know that this is not acting.” But Ariana quietly answers, “I don’t.” I have the literal chills! It’s like watching a psychological thriller.
Brock is VPR’s hero
I wasn’t prepared to root for Brock in any way. He never really moved me to cheer for him in the previous seasons. When fans first found out he was late on child support for his first two kids, we all wrote him off. At that point, all he was was a fancy accessory to Scheana. But Season 11 showed Brock and Scheana struggling within their marriage.
The couple has only been married two years, but at times, they seemed unable to stand one another. The reunion is set to have some hard-hitting questions regarding the turbulence. The sneak peek also showed Brock breaking down as he described the importance of his wife and daughter in his life. Brock is left with a puddle around his chair, making me already say, “I’m not crying! You’re crying!”
Final thoughts
Even though I enjoyed watching it, the reunion trailer was weird. It feels like it didn’t show a whole lot, which could be good or bad. But I do think long strands of boring commentary will follow moments of glory. I believe that hearing Jo Wenberg’s side of the bullying will be hard because, like it or not, she tugged at my heartstrings.
Watching Katie rip her apart at the San Francisco gathering wasn’t fun. I will most certainly grab tissues when Jo says her piece. The Vanderpump Rules three-part reunion seems very tense and emotional vs. explosive like the previous season, which is very different. I’m not sure if my little reality TV heart will be able to take it.
