Yandel invigorated the audience at the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Sunday (Oct. 20) with a dynamic performance of two hit singles from his latest album, ELYTE. Draped in a black leather vest and pants, while sporting dark shades and a bucket hat, the reggaetón renegade exuded rugged charisma.
The performance kicked off with “Afro,” an Afrobeat-infused track that captivated the audience with its vibrant energy. Yandel, accompanied by a troupe of dancers clad in eye-catching metallic silver outfits, brought the song to life with captivating choreography and an undeniable stage presence.
The Puerto Rican genre pioneer then delivered “Háblame Claro,” a sultry reggaetón tune, which originally featured Feid and climbed to No. 33 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. While the Colombian star was not present, Yandel’s solo rendition did not disappoint, as he infused the performance with passion and the right mix of intensity and allure.
“This is a song Tainy [produced] with Los Icons,” Yandel told Billboard on Oct. 10, when his new album dropped. “From the moment I heard it, I felt like it was a hit and that it was going to be a defining track on the album. Everything felt natural, as if the ideas just aligned perfectly. Every time I listen to it, I am transported back to that moment and the vibe that led us to create something that, without a doubt, speaks to both the roots of reggaetón and its evolution.”
The 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards will also feature performances from J Balvin, Grupo Niche, Pepe Aguilar, Gloria Trevi, Maria Becerra, Xavi, Chencho Corleone, Prince Royce, Gabito Ballesteros, Proyecto Uno and more.
