The Wednesday, July 29, episode of General Hospital saw Ava and Ethan spend the night at the Metro Court hotel. Even after making love, Ava is still suspicious of Ethan’s motives. She can’t help but wonder if he slept with her only to make sure that she remains silent about Phoebe. However, Ethan soon made a confession that eased her mind.

As the pair woke up in the same bed, Ethan confided in Ava that he actually likes her. He caught her off guard, admitting his feelings and choosing to stay for breakfast.

This dramatic development comes just a few days after Christian Howard stepped into the role of Ethan Lovett, replacing Nathan Dean. It remains unclear how long Howard will stay in the role. Meanwhile, Dean had returned to the show in April 2026 following a six-year hiatus.

Speaking with TV Insider at the time, Dean shared, “Initially, they wanted three years.” He added, “I said, ‘I can’t do three years. There’s a lot going on in my personal life. I need to be home with my wife and all this stuff, so can’t do three years, can’t do two years.’ So, we agreed to do these next four months, see how it goes, and they have a pretty interesting little story lined up.”

Howard made his General Hospital debut on the Monday, July 27 episode of the show. The actor had scenes with Maura West, who plays Ava Jerome. “The role of Ethan Lovett is now being played by Christian Howard,” a voiceover announced at the time.
