Bravo’s Best Pride Celebrations – Reality Tea

Bravo’s Best Pride Celebrations – Reality Tea

With Pride Month winding down to an end, I wanted to take a look at some of the best Bravo celebrations. The summer month of June has been typically dedicated to the celebration and commemoration of the LGBTQ+ community. Pride Month was first inspired by the Stonewall riots, which were a series of gay liberation protests in 1969; all over the world, major cities like London, LA, and New York host excessive parades where people are free to be themselves. Naturally, Bravo always puts a little spin on things as they add an extra flair.

    Persians got Pride

Before the Shahs of Sunset was canceled, the group participated in gay Pride with their own float. Before the parade, Reza Farahan had an outburst at a Middle Eastern gay club, Nur. Reza wasn’t thrilled with the float and eventually broke down to Asa Soltan Rahmati about his experience growing up gay. The scene was moving and shed light on how hard it was for the Iranian-born TV star.

Even though Reza didn’t ride the float, Pride for the Persians was still amazing. Each star helped to decorate the float with an immense amount of gold because, as we know, anything shiny or name-brand is usually how this group of Persians rolled. Perhaps the most quintessential moment was when the drag queen asked Golnesa Gharachedaghi if her shoes were Cavalli. The mother one answered, “No baby, they’re Zara.”

    Stephen has Summer House support

Oh, how I loved Stephen McGee. He was the Queen of Hearts, literally, and really added a special dimension to the shared summer house. Stephen shared that growing up in Alabama with a conservative family was hard. The star noted, “The first 18 years of my life, I was the only gay person I knew.” During a trip home, he asked his parents to acknowledge that he was a gay man. Stephen said, “Obviously, there are things in my life you don’t agree with. I don’t choose to be gay, and that’s just how I am.” Thankfully, Stephen’s parents accepted who he was.

In a moment of celebration, the cast took to New York City gay Pride to support their roomie. Right by his side was Carl Radke, who was wearing a rainbow flag and colorful shorts. The Loverboy exec noted, “The place was buzzing. I’m loving supporting Stephen. There are no rules at a gay pride event. That’s the beauty of it!” However, after Carl got a little too excited and stripped his shirt off, Stephen felt like he was taking over the moment.

    SUR Pride

Every year, Lisa Vanderpump created elaborate costumes for West Hollywood pride. Between wearing angel wings and sitting in a gigantic champagne glass, the Vanderpump Rules matriarch knew how to celebrate in style. Each team member had their own idea about what Pride meant to them. Tom Sandoval once shared that it was about “live and let live.” Scheana Shay, who often sang Good as Gold during the parade, revealed that “pride is power.” Jax Taylor thoughtfully added, “Love, equality, having a good time.”

Ariana Madix, who came out as bisexual, shared, “Pride to me is about joyful defiance.” With her business partner for Something About Her, Katie Maloney added, “Pride to me means that you embrace who you are and how you are. And whatever makes you feel like you and empowered and to own it one hundred percent.”

    RHOSLC pride

Meredith Marks has always been an outspoken supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. The fashion designer shared a beautiful moment with her son, Brooks Marks, and husband, Seth Marks. During the clip, Meredith noted that her “son has been going down his own journey wherever that leads him it leads. I accept that on every level. The entire family gathered for a GLADD photoshoot to show support. Meredith shared that she felt “GLADD was an incredible organization supporting the LGBT community, and I am so happy I was able to be here.”

No matter how the Bravo stars celebrate, they always make sure to raise awareness for the community and its struggles, which is always half the battle.
