Donald Trump recently walked out of an interview with NBC News’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker, but he later claimed that he did what he did for a reason. The incident happened after Welker challenged his claims about elections and the riot at the U.S. Capitol. However, shortly after the interview, the president cleared the air, saying he got angry because of the rain.
Donald Trump says he got ‘angry’ with NBC’s Kristen Welker because it was raining
Shortly after walking out of the NBC’s “Meet the Press” interview with Kristen Welker, Donald Trump shared the reason behind his act. “I just did an interview in the most beautiful barn I have ever seen… but it was raining. And it was with NBC fake news. And because it was raining, I got a little bit angry at them. I was not happy with them. But we had a good time,” he told the reporters at the agricultural roundtable on Friday.
The president’s “Meet the Press” pre-recorded interview with Welker was released Sunday. For their Friday interview, they sat in a dry barn with a metal roof in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Welker questioned Trump on various topics, including gas prices, his election fraud and riot claims, the state of American farming, and the Iran war. However, after a few minutes, he called out to Welker for her interview tactics before removing his microphone and storming off the set.
“You’re crooked, and Meet the Press is crooked, and so is ABC and CBS and CNN. One-sided crooked networks. Let’s call it quits, because I’ve had enough,” he said, before adding: “Thank you, darling. Have a good time.” Even then Welker urged to continue the interview since she traveled “all the way to Wisconsin” for the interview, Trump did not agree for further questions saying he sat in the rain “for an hour, on and off in the rain” and had given her “enough time” before suggesting her to “straighten out your press” as “a country can never be great with a dishonest press.”
