The POTUS made the claim about “Melania: Twenty Days to History” during a recent speech, lauding his spouse’s feature without providing any evidence to back his statement.

While addressing a Las Vegas gathering on August 5, the president bragged about his partner’s movie from earlier this year, calling it the “No. 1 movie of the year.”
Donald Trump started by sharing his views on his wife’s dislike of his transgender weightlifting impression, before describing Melania as a “very elegant” woman (via The Independent). He continued to praise the First Lady by saying, “She did a movie, I think it’s the number one movie of the year.”
Released in January this year, “Melania: Twenty Days to History” conveyed the story of the three weeks leading up to Trump’s 2025 presidential inauguration from Melania’s perspective. The Amazon feature secured a $7 million box-office debut upon its premiere, making it the best opening for a documentary in a decade.
Nevertheless, the hype around the documentary on Donald Trump’s wife plateaued shortly afterwards, with Melania concluding its run at the box office with a worldwide collection of $16.6 million, as per Box Office Mojo. Multiple movies have surpassed Melania’s earnings since then, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day emerging as the biggest movie of the year so far. The Tom Holland-led feature has already gone past the $1 billion mark and is expected to break more records in the coming days.
Melania’s Amazon documentary also received a lukewarm reception upon its digital release, placing seventh in the top 10 streaming movies in its first week on Prime Video, according to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings.
