“A stranded vampire becomes prey for the world’s wealthiest monster-hunters in the all-new mature readers series from The Cabin Boyz and artist Unai de Zarate with a ratio variant cover from Jason Shawn Alexander.”
Ahead of the first issue’s release this September from Devil’s Due Studios, we have an exclusive preview of the vampire survival-horror comic book series, Run From the Sun, that you can read right now!
“Devil’s Due Studios returns to Creator Owned Publishing this September, and is turning vampire horror inside out with RUN FROM THE SUN #1, an all-new mature readers comic book series debuting in comic shops on September 9, 2026. Featuring a Jason Shawn Alexander Ratio Cover.
Written by The Cabin Boyz (Shawn DePasquale and Matthew Cohen) with art by Unai de Zarate, Run from the Sun begins with a woman waking up on a remote tropical island with no memory of how she got there. She quickly discovers she has been abducted by an eccentric group of wealthy elites who hunt human beings for sport. There is just one problem with their latest prey. She is a vampire. Now stranded beneath the island’s brutal, sun-scorched daylight, she must survive long enough to reach nightfall, when the hunters become the hunted.
The debut issue has already earned praise from bestselling writer Charles Soule (Eight Billion Genies, Daredevil): “Despite the vampires, this book very much does not suck. Such a fun read!”
“Run from the Sun takes a classic survival-horror setup and twists it into something instantly fun, vicious, and completely comics-friendly,” said Devil’s Due Studios publisher Josh Blaylock.
“It’s the perfect mix of a grounded thriller mixed with vampiric horrors, and just enough billionaires-getting-what’s-coming-to-them energy to make the whole thing work perfectly.”
“Rich guys on an island hunting a vampire basically writes itself! Except we had to write it,” added the creators, “But we couldn’t draw it, so Unai and Maxflan joined the team and helped us create this badass action comic.”
Run from the Sun #1 features 28 full-color pages and will be released with four covers, including open-order variants by Renan Shody, Bruno Oliveira, and Maria Laura Sanapo, plus a 1:10 UV spot gloss incentive cover by Jason Shawn Alexander.”
