Meghan Markle made her Australian TV debut as a guest judge on MasterChef, which aired on July 26. However, the appearance sparked mixed reactions, with some reports claiming that Markle was difficult to work with on the set of the cooking show.
MasterChef Australia judge Poh Ling Yeow has firmly denied the claims and set the record straight. The 52-year-old praised the Duchess of Sussex, saying she was “really lovely” to everyone on set.

Speaking on the Nathan, Nat and Shaun radio show, Yeow addressed the claims. She described, as per People, “[Markle] was a model citizen. Like, honestly, no fuss. Hung out with us, didn’t run, scurry away into her green room, was just completely sort of engaged with the whole process.” “And knows her food,” Yeow added, highlighting Markle’s passion for cooking.
During filming, rumors emerged suggesting Markle was difficult to work with on set. The speculation came after judge Yeow introduced her as “royalty.” A report by the Mirror claimed Markle was unhappy with the reference and felt “very frustrated” by it.
Yeow said during her radio interview that she had “nothing to complain about at all” regarding her experience. She admitted she was surprised by the buzz surrounding the rumors. The judge said, “It’s the first time anything like that has happened to me. So it’s been very eye-opening to me to see what [Markle] cops every day, and it’s really full on.”
The episode drew an audience of more than 1.5 million viewers. Network 10 reported that it achieved the biggest overnight Sunday audience in nearly three years. The show also set a new record for overnight streaming viewership. The appearance adds to Meghan’s growing involvement in cooking and lifestyle projects, following her Daytime Emmy-nominated Netflix series With Love, Meghan. According to Nine.com.au, the Duchess of Sussex is back at her Montecito home in the US after completing a short visit to the UK in early July.
