Prince William is drawing a hard line when it comes to his uncle, ex-Prince Andrew, and his stance has reportedly left King Charles with little room to maneuver at a time when the royal family already faces intense public scrutiny. Closer reported that the family went into crisis mode after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest at the King’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. The police allegedly held the former prince for around 11 hours before releasing him.

Closer reported that officers searched Andrew’s properties, including Royal Lodge, where he previously lived with Sarah Ferguson. The police have not shared any specific details publicly.
However, it was reported that Andrew faces an allegation of Misconduct in Public Office. He reportedly also faces suspicion of sharing confidential government and financial information with a convicted criminal. Andrew has denied wrongdoing.
Closer noted that King Charles addressed ex-Prince Andrew’s arrest with a brief statement, but Prince William and Kate Middleton did not comment publicly. But the outlet reported they support the king’s statement while keeping the monarchy’s future their priority.
One source told Closer, “William is acutely aware of how this looks. He doesn’t want history to remember this period as one where the Crown flinched.” They also claimed, “William has made it clear that under his watch, there will be no blurred lines between loyalty and accountability.”
Additionally, another source claimed, “It was William who urged the King to take firm, visible action after years of perceived hesitation.” The insider alleged William raised it during “a one-to-one meeting at Balmoral last September.” They claimed, “He told the King that Andrew could no longer be a grey area. There had to be a line.”
Though “the King was more reluctant at first,” the insider claimed, “in the face of mounting public scrutiny and the fresh arrest, Charles has accepted that he has little choice.” If the claims hold, Prince William has already drawn his boundaries with regard to ex-Prince Andrew, and King Charles — who is facing the same headlines — has had to live with them.
