Russell Brand Slams Ex-Wife’s Relationship With Justin Trudeau

Russell Brand Slams Ex-Wife’s Relationship With Justin Trudeau

Russell Brand, who was previously married to Katy Perry between 2010 and 2012, has made it clear that he is not a fan of her relationship with Justin Trudeau. In a recent interview, he mocked the former Canadian Prime Minister and called him out on some of his actions and political decisions.

The veteran comedian recently discussed his upcoming trial for alleged rape and sexual assault charges, addiction, and his political viewpoints.

During the discussion on The Megyn Kelly Show, the host brought up Russell Brand’s past marriage to Katy Perry and her current relationship with Justin Trudeau, asking him how he felt about it. Not holding back on his disapproval, he replied, “I’ve put up with a lot with that ex-wife of mine. But you took it too far, KP.”

However, Brand expressed fondness for the “Dark Horse” crooner’s other ex, Orlando Bloom. Referencing the latter’s role in The Lord of the Rings, Legolas, by pretending to shoot an arrow with a bow, he said, “I love that guy, brilliant.” Bloom and Perry, who share a daughter, Daisy Dove, ended their engagement in June last year.

Brand then proceeded to criticize Trudeau, not mincing his words. He first labeled the Canadian politician “potentially Fidel Castro’s spawn,” before expressing his dislike for him. “I do not like that Trudeau,” Brand shared.

The Rock of Ages actor stated that Justin Trudeau has “fantastic hair” but subsequently criticized his invocation of the Emergencies Act in 2022. It was to end the “Freedom Convoy” protests, which saw truck drivers create a blockade on border crossings across Canada. This was in opposition to mandated COVID-19 vaccines for cross-border drivers.

While the protests initially focused on only this issue, they later expanded to all COVID-19 restrictions and mandates. Trudeau’s invocation of the act enabled the government to freeze protesters’ bank accounts. However, the Federal Court later ruled it unconstitutional. The former leader of the Liberal Party revoked the act days later.

Moreover, Russell Brand accused Trudeau of pretending to be “ultra woke.” He brought up how the latter once honored a Nazi war veteran in the Canadian Parliament. However, it was a decision he eventually admitted was a mistake and apologized for (via BBC News).

Brand later asked Kelly if Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau were still dating. Upon learning that this was the case, he said, “Keep checking. She could come to her senses any minute.” Furthermore, Brand even mockingly stated that “it’ll be a relief to be in a rape trial,” since he and Trudeau both are on the list of Perry’s partners.
