Taylor Swift fans believe the singer may have left another clue about her future music plans after noticing changes on Spotify. For three of Swift’s songs, the visuals on the platform were briefly altered, sparking online speculation. Many Swifties wondered if the updates hinted at a new Taylor’s Version project. But what those changes mean is still not clear.
Swifties are connecting colorful Easter eggs that they believe point to Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version)
On July 19, Spotify users noticed new canvas backgrounds for three Taylor Swift songs. The visuals for “I Knew It, I Knew You” from Toy Story 5, its Piano Version, and “Blank Space” changed colors. During the update, the songs had green, purple, and red backgrounds. By July 20, the canvases appeared to return to their previous images.
The brief changes led fans to discuss possible clues about Swift’s next release. Some fans think she may be preparing a release of “Taylor’s Version” of her self-titled debut album from 2006. The album will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Oct. 24. Other fans wondered if the clues might refer to a brand new album, making it Swift’s 13th studio album.
Swift has built a reputation for hiding Easter eggs in her projects and releases. Fans linked the colour changes to the past album announcements and release dates. One fan pointed out that Red (Taylor’s Version) was released on Nov. 12, 2021, while Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) was released on July 7, 2023. Another fan linked the “Blank Space” color change to the song’s 2014 release and the 2017 arrival of Reputation.
Swift has already completed a major goal in her music career by regaining ownership of her masters. In May 2025, she reached a deal with Shamrock Capital to own the master recordings of her first six albums. Before this, she had also released rerecorded albums such as Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Swift celebrated the moment by writing on her website, “All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me.”
