I guess the gremlins must have seen sunlight, because they’ve crawled back into the dark for a bit.
Variety reports that Gremlins 3, which was originally scheduled to release on November 19th, 2027, has been delayed to October 6th, 2028, by Warner Bros.
That’s not exciting. None of us want to wait an extra year for the return of the beloved franchise. What is exciting is that, along with the announcement, Warner Bros. posted a very brief teaser that gives us our first look at the new Gizmo!

Chris Columbus (Home Alone) is set to produce and direct, with a script by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.
Steven Spielberg, who produced the original film, is returning as executive producer.
Producers are Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario for Amblin Entertainment alongside Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe of 26th Street Pictures.
Directed by Joe Dante, the first Gremlins was released in 1984 and centered on a small town overrun by vicious little creatures who multiply when they get wet. Originally written to be more violent, the script was toned down to get a PG rating. However, it scared kids so badly that the MPAA created the PG-13 rating.
The series has long been a favorite. Toys, TV shows, and even a brilliant sequel all followed. Yet, for as popular as Gremlins is, a third film never made it to the finish line. Now, it seems like it’ll finally happen.
We just have to wait an extra year to see it.
