Where Do Below Deck Med’s Luke Brumer & Joy Lefaucheur Stand

As soon as Luke Brumer stepped aboard Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11, he spotted Joy Lefaucheur and immediately fell in love(ish). But then, oopsies, he literally fell into bed with Gen Lillie.

After that, Joy saw Luke differently for a while, but by the finale, he had somehow managed to crawl right back into her mostly good graces. Luke even hummed the wedding tune in the finale, teasing that they might one day go the distance. So now that filming is over, are Luke and Joy still together, or was their boatmance destined to stay docked in Croatia?

Luke has yet to speak out on the matter. But in her ever-witty way, Joy recently did. Needless to say, her answer pretty much says it all.

In Episode 1, Luke set his sights on Joy. Joy liked him back, but Gen was also pursuing Luke, so that complicated things. As for Luke, he seemed to enjoy being so in demand. And then, he enjoyed it a little too much, and an entire scandal was born.

To backtrack, Luke bonded with Gen in Episode 4, so Joy walked away, telling him he clearly needed “to taste the grass” first. Luke did more than just taste, though. Instead, he and Gen spent that same night together in his bunk. After she “put it in,” Gen rolled down to the bunk below to sleep, and then, in the morning, Luke joined her for another little hands-on meeting, if you catch my drift.

Either way, their sheets sure caught a lot. Luke “came on [his] boss’s sheets,” and then he never cleaned them. It was gross, but just hearing that they were intimate was gross enough for Joy. She put Luke in his place, and shortly after, Luke left the yacht.

But then he returned throughout Season 11 in various off-screen ways, including texts, phone calls, and even a bouquet. All of these things combined made Joy slowly forgive him.

Luke joked about marrying Joy in the Below Deck Med Season 11 finale

In Episode 17, Luke texted his then still-filming pal, Joe Bradley. He wanted to surprise Joy during the crew’s final night out, Luke said. Even though Joe knew it might cause issues for Gen, since Luke so coldly gaslit her before leaving the yacht, Joe agreed to update Luke with their plans so he could make his surprise appearance. Then, in Episode 18, Luke and his dollar-store-looking disguise finally rolled up.

As expected, Gen immediately saw red. “Go f*ck yourself,” she instructed. Then, Gen poured a large glass of red wine all over him. Luke hated that, naturally, but Joy hated even more how this entire scenario made Gen feel.

Ever a girl’s girl, Joy quickly ditched her reunion with Luke to comfort Gen, who she didn’t even really like. Once these girls hit the dance floor, Luke realized his return was … complicated, and he promptly left. But in his final talking head, he promised that “this [was] not the end” of his story with Joy. When egged on to say more, Luke boldly hummed the tune to “Here Comes the Bride” while smiling, as if his wish actually had wings.

Where do Joy Lefaucheur and Luke Brumer stand today?

Joy returned to the yacht with the crew, where she shared one further exchange with Luke over the phone. Shortly thereafter, Below Deck Med Season 11 came to an end. That begs the question: did Luke get his happily (for)ever after with Joy? If you ask Joy, the answer is a very witty NOPE.

Recently, Joy posted her stunning headshot on Instagram. “French romance,” she captioned it. But then, further down in the comments, Joy said a whole lot more.

“For everyone still asking about Luke… I gave that man credit for flowers and a few text messages like he had delivered the moon. Looking back, they were breadcrumbs… and apparently I was the pigeon. At least the pigeon eventually flew away. NEXT COURSE, PLEASE,” Joy joked, and, rumor has it, her “next course” might just be Cooper Dawson.

That remains unverified, of course, but Kat Johnston no longer follows either of them, which lends some credence to current speculations. Either way, when Joy and Cooper both (allegedly) return in Season 12, this rumor will likely get addressed. Either way, that is an official wrap on all things Joy and Luke.

Below Deck Mediterranean streams on Peacock.
