Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could reconsider their UK move if security concerns involving their children continue, according to royal expert Lynn Carratt. The warning followed reports of photographers near Archie and Lilibet’s school. The Sussexes‘ spokesperson described the alleged incident as “extraordinarily reckless” and an “unacceptable intrusion into the privacy of children.”
Continued security breaches will have Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reconsider UK return, per expert
Carratt told The Express US that one incident would not necessarily prompt the Sussexes to leave Britain. However, repeated breaches could change their thinking about staying long-term. “If incidents like this continue, I absolutely think it could make them question whether living in the UK is workable for their family in the long term,” she said.
The expert also explained why security remains particularly important to Harry. “He never chose to become famous,” Carratt noted. She added that his mother’s experiences with photographers made the issue especially sensitive.
Meghan’s relationship with public attention differs from Harry’s, according to Carratt. The former actress pursued a career involving interviews, red carpets, and public appearances. However, the expert stressed that their children never chose that lifestyle. “Archie and Lilibet didn’t make the decision to become famous,” she explained.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s move to the UK also faces practical challenges. Carratt said the couple’s next steps depend partly on whether their security arrangements can adequately protect their family. She believes they could remain in Britain if their private security team, school, and authorities address the concerns.
However, repeated incidents could change that calculation. “If incidents like this become a regular occurrence, I wouldn’t be surprised if returning to America comes back into the conversation,” Carratt said.
The reported school incident followed another security-related decision. Harry and Meghan moved their children to a different UK school shortly after the new term began. Their spokesperson said the family’s security team had discussed the practicalities of their arrangements.
Harry and Meghan returned to Britain with their children in August after spending years in California. Harry later said the children were happy at school and described being back in Britain as “great.”
