Wheel of Fortune is more than just turning letters and solving puzzles. The game show often has themed episodes that sometimes stretch into weeks. Fans debated which ones they would like to see for Season 44.
This past season, Wheel of Fortune had a Coca-Cola week to celebrate 250 years of America. The game show also celebrated back-to-school, Christmas, Vanna White‘s hometown, Harley-Davidson week, NASCAR, Military week, and more. Typically, WOF brings in new themes every season. They usually correspond with the puzzle or contestants who are on the show.
Ahead of the new season, fans took to Reddit to share which themes they would like to see. “Season 44 theme,” the original poster said. “What theme weeks are you hoping for this upcoming season?”
“Vanna White Appreciation Week. Have a special $1957 wedge and let her write the puzzles :),” one fan said. 1957 is the year she was born. In the past, fans have won trips to her hometown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She has traveled back there and visited local spots, but there has never been a full week honoring her. White has been on the show since 1982, so she should get something.
Another fan suggested “Sajak Week.” Pat Sajak was the former host of Wheel of Fortune. It is unclear if the fan meant to have Sajak host for one week or just have one week honoring him. If Sajak Week happened, his daughter, Maggie, who is the social correspondent for the show, may have to fill in as the letter turner.
One fan said they would like to see College Week. They have had school-themed weeks in the past with teachers. However, college students need money, and solving puzzles would get their brains going for school.
“Retro week, PLEASE,” a Reddit user said. Not sure if this means throwing the game elements back to retro ways or having a theme like the ’70s and ’80s.
“Hopefully they take the show (Along with Jeopardy!) back on the road again,” one last fan said. Although WOF Live! is a thing, those games are not shown on TV. Fans play the game for money and trips. Wheel of Fortune films in California, but used to travel across the U.S.A.
