King Charles’ Icebreaker With One TV Host Got Awkward Real Fast — Report

TV host Anna Williamson has recalled accidentally spitting food on King Charles during their very first meeting. The incident reportedly happened while she was trying to greet the then-Prince of Wales at a formal reception. Although the moment left her embarrassed, she said Charles handled it with grace, turning the uncomfortable encounter into one she now remembers with laughter.

TV host Anna Williamson recalls how she ‘spat’ on King Charles during brief interaction

Anna Williamson recently shared the story behind one of her most awkward celebrity encounters while appearing on Joe Marler’s “Joe Marler Will See You Now” podcast. When asked to recall her most embarrassing meeting with a famous person, the TV presenter said her first interaction with King Charles immediately came to mind.

The meeting reportedly took place at a reception held in the gardens of Highgrove. Williamson explained that she attended the event as a long-time ambassador for the King’s Trust, formerly known as the Prince’s Trust.

At first, everything seemed straightforward. Then, things quickly took an unexpected turn. According to Williamson, she was eating pea risotto when King Charles walked over to greet guests. At the same time, she was trying to remember the proper royal etiquette. Rather than choosing one greeting, she admitted she tried to do everything at once.

“You can curtsey or do a variety of things that are respectful — a bow, a handshake — and I sort of did them all at once,” she recalled. However, the combination did not end well. Williamson claimed she lost her balance while attempting the curtsey. As she stumbled forward, she allegedly fell into Charles while still chewing her food.

“He had to sort of push me back into place once I fell, and I spat risotto into his face,” she said. She added that she had “over committed” to the curtsey before colliding with the future monarch.

Despite the awkward moment, Williamson claimed Charles remained remarkably calm. When asked whether security reacted, she said there was no panic. In fact, she described everyone as “quite chill.”

She also claimed Charles helped steady her and, together with security, got her back on her feet. Meanwhile, she said the people she attended the event with could not stop laughing.

Looking back, Williamson said the awkward mishap unexpectedly became an icebreaker. “That was how I broke the ice with the King,” she joked. Marler quickly replied that it was “certainly a unique way” to introduce herself.
